I can’t believe the fucking Mariners just got swept over the weekend, at home, against the fucking Angels. Except I totally CAN believe the shit out of that! And not because it just happened before our very fucking eyes. In the “I Told You So” Department, a subsidiary of the “We All Fucking Told You So” Department, the pitching in this series really went to balls, which comes back around to the argument that the offense REALLY couldn’t wait too long to get going because eventually the chickens would come home to fucking roost. Friday: lost 7-1; Saturday: lost 11-2; Sunday: lost 9-4. What those scores don’t tell you is – Ian Snell aside – the starting pitching actually did pretty okay. Certainly kept the team in the ballgame 2 out of 3 times. The Bullpen however, YEESH. Gave up 5 runs in 3 innings on Sunday, gave up a motherfucking whopping 10 runs in 4 innings on Saturday, and for good measure, 3 runs in 3.2 innings on Friday. That’s a 15.18 ERA for those keeping score at home. For those keeping score at home who don’t know much about baseball: that’s not a good ERA to be having. And finally, that is 8 series so far this year against teams in the AL West – arguably (or maybe not so arguably) the worst division in baseball. The M’s have won 1 of those, the home opening series against the A’s, 2-1. All in all, we are 6-18 in those games (including 3 series sweeps and counting). Today, we are in Texas to play four games in 100+ degree heat. Everyone appears to be pointing to this series alone as the Make Or Break series of the season. Personally, I don’t see any point in getting our hopes up. In the most unlikely event that we sweep the Rangers, we’re still 4 games back. But, forget about that. We’re not sweeping the Rangers.
