A Paragraph With The Mariners – 54

Another heartbreaker last night … had a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the 9th inning, lost the game 4-3. The blown saves by David Aardsma are coming fast and furious this year! Actually, that’s probably not entirely fair. I mean, let’s face it, there were a LOT more save opportunities last year because the team was winning. This year, shit, the man’s out of practice! A win is so infrequent now, it’s almost a shock to the system to look up at the scoreboard and see the Mariners with anything but 0’s across the board, let alone to have an actual lead late in the game. All I really have to say about this game is: WALK ADRIAN GONZALEZ! ! ! He’s easily, I would say, one of the three best hitters in the game. One of those feared hitters who hit for average AND power. Who can “change the game with one swing of the bat.” Like Pujols, he can hit it anywhere in the park, on a line, and cause some real damage. There’s a reason every Mariners fan under the sun wanted them to trade for him in the offseason when there was still hope for 2010. And I don’t care that there were runners on 1st and 2nd, you WALK ADRIAN GONZALEZ! He’s essentially Barry Bonds without the steroids. Allegedly. No, his at-bat didn’t single-handedly win them the game, but his double did tie it and put the winning run at 3rd base with 1 out; so essentially he DID win them the game. Bad Wak, Bad Aard.
