Huskies Kick Off Pac-12 Play With Two Impressive Home Wins

A 15-point win and a 16-point win.  An offensive explosion and a defensive gem.

This is big for a couple of reasons.  First of all, the Oregon schools both had 10 wins coming into these games, which would lead me to believe these are a couple of pretty good teams.  Secondly, it makes for a nice start after what was a pretty ugly non-conference run for the Huskies.

Now, the Huskies sit tied with Cal and Stanford – the two class teams of the Pac-12 – at 2-0 in conference.  More importantly, the Huskies are 2-0 in an impressive fashion.  They absolutely dismantled the Oregon schools this weekend.

Tony Wroten continued his dominance with a 26-point outburst against Oregon State, followed by another 17 points against Oregon last night.  C.J. Wilcox parlayed a stellar second half in the first game with 24 points (6 of 8 from three) in the second game.  And both Gaddy & Ross had solid, if unspectacular games to round things out.

We’ll get a nice little test this week with road games against Colorado and Utah.  Considering we’re still winless away from Hec-Ed, stealing a couple of victories against a couple of beat-able teams would really hit the spot going forward in this season.

A season, mind you, where to make the Tourney, you’re either going to have to win the conference outright, or win the Pac-12 Tournament in March.  No margin for error otherwise.  The Pac-12 has no love from the powers that be because they haven’t EARNED any love.
