Except for maybe defeating a highly ranked non-conference opponent (not that I can remember what that feels like or anything), there isn’t a damn thing more satisfying as a Husky basketball fan than a win down in Arizona against those fucking Wildcats.
Unfortunately, I spent yesterday afternoon
getting loaded wine tasting, so I didn’t have a chance to see the 2-point victory that gave Washington sole possession of first place in the Pac-12 for a day, but that doesn’t make the victory any less sweet in my book. C.J. Wilcox bounced back as I hoped he would, Tony Wroten continued his demolition tour of college basketball, Aziz was two rebounds shy of a double double, and Terrence Ross had an all-around solid game. This team is clicking, ladies & gentlemen! As these Romar teams tend to do.
Of course, none of this will mean the Huskies will be ranked come tomorrow, but it’s a great win that should hopefully put us on the map. After all, yesterday’s game was an ESPN Gameday telecast, so by all accounts we should’ve had a good audience to witness our hard-fought victory. If we can just keep this momentum going – and refrain from losing any games to terrible teams like USC, Oregon State, Wazzu and ASU in the coming few weeks – there just might be a spot for us in the NCAA Tournament, regardless of whether or not we win the Pac-12 Tourney.
This week, we host the So-Cal schools. The UCLA game on Thursday is going to be HUGE. We gotta continue this winning trend of late, especially now that we’re back home.
