Seattle Sports Hell Goes Back To Tahoe

Around exactly this time last year – for the first weekend of the NCAA Tournament – I went to Tahoe for a bachelor party.  I spent the better part of five days and four nights drunk off my ass.  In between, there was some roulette gambling (a rousing success), some basketball gambling (an unmitigated disaster), a roast of the groom-to-be (a walk-off grand slam), and no less than three debilitating hangovers.  Towards the end (in fact, if I’m not mistaken, on the very last day of the trip), I made my bet on the Seahawks to win the Super Bowl.  Throwing caution to the wind as far as jinxing is concerned, I placed my $100 on 7-to-1, and wouldn’t you know it?  Came out of that trip smelling like a rose!

For the record, the Seahawks were something like 11-to-1 before trading for Percy Harvin.  They started that weekend at 4-to-1 before mysteriously jumping back up to 7-to-1.  I don’t think I would have been nearly as thrilled to place a 4-to-1 bet, but that’s neither here nor there.

Anyway, to celebrate, I’m going back to Tahoe with a few buddies.  If I could have an exact repeat of last year’s trip, I’d be a happy man.  In the meantime, I’ve been piling up the links since Christmas.  So, here’s some reading for the long weekend (when you’re not watching college basketball):

Big fan of The Black Crowes.  “Sometimes Salvation” is an underrated gem.

We’re going WAY back, but just in case you missed it, take a gander at the Chris Kluwe hullabaloo.

Do you like The Melvins?  Well, if you don’t, then you’re probably not interested in this interview with their lead singer …

Maybe you like The Sopranos.  If so, then I’ve got an interview with David Chase for you …

Hell Baby is a movie with a lot of funny people in it.  This is an interesting article written by the guy who owns the house where they filmed it (with lots of pictures and cool anecdotes) …

How do you leave off the party from Can’t Hardly Wait?

I’m sure we’re none of us tired of reading about the Seahawks.  This was an eye-opening look at Pete Carroll’s year with the Jets …

AWESOME cover story on Tony Gonzalez by ESPN …

Finally, follow me on Twitter.  I’m on there quite a bit, but my tweets come in fits and starts.  Sometimes I tweet a lot, sometimes I go days at a time where it’s just links to my shit.  Either way, I NEED FOLLOWERS!!!  My God, whose dick do you gotta suck to get over 100 followers …

And, you can also follow me on Facebook.  It’s probably the best way to contact me, unless you’re into the whole Twitter DM thing …
