There was no part of me that wanted to win this game today. What would be the point? What good could’ve been gained by being 8-8 instead of 7-9? Even though our record is the same as last season, we’ve already proven we’re a MUCH better team than we were in 2010. Last year, we won 7 games against bad teams and lost 9 games against good teams. This year, we weren’t killed nearly as much in our losses, and we actually jumped up and shocked a couple teams (which NEVER would’ve happened in the past three seasons; that playoff game against the Saints notwithstanding).
So no, I’m not sorry that the Seahawks lost today and I’m NOT sorry that I actively rooted against them. Taking that kickoff in overtime and driving down for the winning score would’ve cost us about 5 or 6 spots in the draft order. For a young team looking to build through said draft, those 5 or 6 spots could make all the difference.
I’m telling you, I’ve never been so happy to be 7-9 in my life. Last year was completely different. When you have a chance to win your division and make the playoffs, you HAVE to pounce on the opportunity. But, when you’re already out of the playoffs, winning can do nothing but hurt you.
Now, all we have to look forward to is the coin flip at the Combine. Suck my balls, Kansas City, I want that 11th pick!
