You may or may not notice a general lack of consistent writing of late. I’ve been taking much more than my usual 2-day weekends off. That’s because, quite frankly, I’m sick and tired of writing about the Mariners. It’s the same depressing incompetence we’re all confronted with on an ALMOST annual basis. There are only so many fucking ways you can talk about how much this team sucks, and I’ll admit I’ve had my fill.
So, I’ll only write about this team when I damn well feel like it. Which probably won’t be that often, considering I spend more days NOT watching the Mariners than I do watching the Mariners. I feel like words can only do so much damage when you’re talking about a sports team. LACK of words – or of any attention paid whatsoever – speaks volumes. I’m not going to tell you how to live your lives, but maybe more of you should try it. Get off of the daily grind. Stop bashing your heads against the wall and pestering the beat writers on an hourly basis. It’s not THEIR fault the Mariners are terrible. You want to make a difference? Start eating into the ratings. Turn off Root Sports, turn off 710 AM. Do something else.
Watch Felix! Don’t get me wrong, it’s not like you should give them up cold turkey or something! Felix starts are still generally something bordering on entertainment. He deserves our praise and recognition and acknowledgement. But, you know, don’t let the Mariners put you in an early grave. The heart disease that comes with watching this team on a daily basis is doing us no good!
That’s it, that’s all I’ve got. Maybe I’ll have more to say next week.
